Release the StarsCan love be measured in percentages?

After her girlfriend leaves her for a man, broken-hearted novelist Charlie Cross moves from New York to Los Angeles to work on a TV show based on her books. Charlie vows to never date any woman who isn’t a hundred percent certain of being a lesbian. But when she is seduced by gorgeous bisexual cooking show host Ava Castaneda, whom she’s had a celebrity crush on for ages, Charlie is forced to review her belief in percentages because true love could very well be on the line.

Release the Stars is a lighthearted, fast-paced contemporary lesbian fairytale set in the glitzy world of Hollywood.

EllCon was great (*)!

(*) Apart from me mumbling my way through the one panel I was on, that is. (I’ll just stick to writing from now on.) 😉

I think it’s fair to say lesfic writers don’t get to have regular conversations with other lesfic writers, especially not in the flesh. So having the opportunity to talk shop with fellow authors is always lovely, even for overly sensitive introverts like myself.

Here’s a picture of my Mrs and me with lesfic great Jae:

Other things that occurred:

  • Kiki Archer managed to sell me one of her paperbacks even though I only ever read ebooks
  • Emma Nichols charmed the pants off me by calling me a ‘legend’
  • Miranda MacLeod came all the way from the US and surprised me with her drinking skills
  • Andrea Bramhall thoroughly impressed me during the ‘Realistic Characters’ panel (so much so that I promptly bought one of her books — yup, in paperback — so she could sign it!)
  • Justine ‘Have you read the classics?’ Saracen turned out to live in Brussels (and Lise Gold lived in Hong Kong while we were there!)
  • TB Markinson almost convinced me to read Great Expectations (but not quite)
  • Claiming that leather jackets cause microphone feedback is a great way to get lesfic authors to strip off their clothes
  • Getting hangry happens to the best of us (even to my always-cool co-writer Clare Lydon) 😉

All things that would never have happened/I wouldn’t have found out about if it hadn’t been for EllCon.

I hope Zara, Gerd & the other organisers are already making plans for next year!

We also LOVED Bristol (and can’t wait to go back next year.)
